Steps
- Sign in at Grok Bot with your X account — the same login Grok uses.
- Open Agents → New Agent. Give it a descriptive name (future you will thank you).
- Paste a system prompt — grab one from any template page and replace the
{{placeholders}}. - Add a memory if the template calls for one (voice rules, taxonomies, blocklists — why memories matter).
- Run once manually with a small input. Read the output before you trust it with more.
What free actually covers
Manual, paste-and-run workflows cost nothing. The features behind the pro plan chip on our templates are scheduling and outside connectors — both need a paid plan. If a template’s steps say “run once by hand,” you can do that today for free. Full split: is Grok Bot free?
Common first-run mistakes
- Pasting the prompt into the chat box — it goes in the agent’s system field, not a message.
- Skipping the memory — the prompt references it; without it you get generic output.
- Scheduling before the first manual run looks right — automate a bad recipe and it fails politely, forever.
